Pinque Peacock

Hello my friends and Happy Friday!
Can you believe it is Labor Day Weekend already ... where did the summer go??
Anyways . . . How thrilled am I to tell you that I am today's Guest Designer at Pinque Peacock!
Be sure to pop over and check out their beautiful selection of covered button, beautiful stick pins and much, much more!  Perfect for those 'special' touches!!

I recently won some of their BEAUTIFUL items and couldn't wait to use this gorgeous pin on a wedding card ... PERFECT!!

The digital image I have used for my card today is called 'True Love' by From The Heart Stamps and was created in honor of her 15th wedding anniversary ... how sweet is that!

My background paper is from FabScraps 'High Tea' 8x8 paper pack and I thought it was just perfect for a wedding creation.  Since I was already fussy cutting out my image for the front, I figured why not fussy cut one of the roses from the paper as an inside embellishment ... worked perfectly!

I hope you'll pop over and check out Pinque Peacock ... what a nice group of talented ladies!!

Wishing you all a safe and fun holiday weekend!
Until next time and as always . . .

Joan's Gardens Challenge

Happy Thursday Evening my friends!

While hubby prepares to watch another Pre Season football game, I decided to play along in one of my favorite challenges and do a little crafting.    The challenge I am referring to is the one over at Joan's Gardens every Thursday.  Joan has become a dear friend and she/Selma continue to inspire me to 'think outside the box' with their wonderful challenge ideas.

The challenge for this week is the following:

You can make 3 cards this week
  • Use gingham, checks or plaids
  • Colors - Green, white and brown
  • Butterflies
  • Something fallish...pumpkins, scarecrows, leaves etc
  • You must use a product sold at Joan's Gardens. Also, mention that you are doing the card/project for Joan's Gardens Challenge. It would be nice if you would add this link to your post: www.atjoansgardens.com

  • Here is what I came up with  . . .

I have had this scrap of Stemma design paper in my scrap box for several years now and today it just popped out and said "USE ME!" so that was my starting point!  Actually, all the paper used on this card came from my scrap box.

This card is quite a 'mish-mash' of layers & elements but I think it came together to as a very pretty fall card.  All items used on this A6 card are listed below.

If you want to join in on a fun challenge, just pop on over to Joan's Gardens  and play along!

Here are a few additional challenges I'd like to add this creation to:
Cute Card Thursday - Things with Wings
Delightful Challenge - Make the Cut (die cuts, punches, decorative scissors)
DRS Designs - Mad about Plaid

Hope to see you tomorrow and as always . . .

    Recipe:
Papers:  Stemma dp, OLD SU green gingham dp, brown cs, hunter green cs, white cs, golden rod cs, CDWV fall leaf dp
Accessories:  Pumpkin stickers from scrapbooking stash, Martha Stewart 3-in-1 butterfly punch, Cheery Lynn Designs DL121 Sunflower die, Cheery Lynn Designs B123 Victorian Picket Fence die, Sizzix #656064 flowers & branch die set, Michaels gingham ribbon, Spectrum Noir alcohol markers

Here are the links one last time . . .

    WEEK 4 - Winter
For this FINAL TUESDAY of the hop, we are creating with the WINTER season in mind!
This little lady has on her Christmas green & red and is ready for the holiday parties!

The background papers used on my Prima Doll Tag are from the Crafty Secrets digital Vintage & Retro Christmas CDs.  My snowman die is Marianne LR0246.

I actually printed the musical paper from the Crafty Secrets CD then stamped and colored my pretty ruffle dressed Prima Doll.

Touches of sparkle using Stickles red, diamond and waterfall colors adorn the snowman, icicles and her headband.  The sparkly ribbon came from Flower Factory.

My second project started out beautifully with all the fun colors and techniques I used on the canvas but unfortunately time ran out for me and I didn't get as much designing done on it as I had hoped.  However, I will share with you the stage it is in at the moment.

I have used everything but the kitchen sink on this canvas!  LOL!
Ink pads, various Glimmer Mists, paints ... I love how it reminds me of looking into the Christmas tree and squinting your eyes so all the lights run together.

I've had such a good time on this hop and hope you have too.
Thanks so much for joining in our fun and GOOD LUCK!

    SFC3413 - It's Squigglefly Time Again . . .

    Happy Monday Everyone!
    Hope your weekend was fabulous!

It's the Holley Hobbyists turn to share creations at this week's Squigglefly Challenge Blog.
    Our theme this week is:

    Sir Shapes-Alot
(LOL ... cute play on words!)
Use at least THREE different shapes on your card/project.

Today I created with a fun 'Truck' image & sentiment from Dawn Collins.
Using some OLD DCWV 12x12 paper, I did a little fancy cutting to create this playful scene.

    ( Inside view)

This was really a lot of fun to create and here's a few elements that went into today's scenic creation!

After coloring the truck image using my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, I did some fussy cutting with my Fiskars swivel craft knife.

As I said, my background paper is OLDER THAN THIS TRUCK (lol) but gave me the background I was looking for.  The RECTANGULAR sign is one of a few in this set by Dawn Collins.

My ROUND sun was created by sponge pod stamping on white paper with SU More Mustard ink then die cutting with a Spellbinder classic circle die the re-sponging the edge.  My PICKET FENCE is a die from Cheery Lynn Designs - B123 Victorian Picket Fence.  Attached to the fence is a sign I created using a Spellbinder ELONGATED rectangle with the Creative Memories sticker letters to spell out BEWARE!

What fun it was playing with shapes!  I can't wait to see what my team members have created today!  Why not pop over to the challenge blog for a little more inspiration ... then join in this challenge theme fun!  Remember to use a Squigglefly image to win but if you don't have one, try one of their freebies!

    Crafty in the Kitchen Today!

    Hello my friends ...

Sorry I haven't had much paper crafting to share with you this week (I'll take care of that NEXT week...LOL).  It's been crazy busy around here with my freelancing job with JoAnn Fabrics Headquarters and the Annual 3-Day Morgan Family Reunion being this weekend!

I was down at the reunion spot last evening (held on a 100 acre farm my oldest 1st cousin owns) with several more of my 1st cousins (I believe there are [were] 47 First Cousins from the original 12 Morgan children).  And, for the last 26 years we've had a Friday night/All Day Saturday 1st cousins reunion followed by a FULL FAMILY REUNION on Sunday.

Everyone brings a covered dish and this year I decided to make some of the dessert recipes from our Morgan Family Cookbook.  Cousin Nancy, myself and my daughter Carolyn decided back in 2004 to pull together a Picture/Story/Cookbook for this amazing large family before it was too late.  At that point in time, we had already lost 5 of the original 12 children and with the recent passing of Aunt Ruth, there are only 2 of the original 12 remaining.  My mother and her youngest sister MaryJane.

Anyways ... as some what of a tribute to these fabulous folks, my daughter & I decided to pull recipes from this awesome cookbook and recreate them for the reunion this year.  Especially since we realized last year that the dessert table was pretty sparse after the loss of our Aunts who always provided those yummy treats.  Carolyn is making 2 recipes from the 'Cookie' section and I was to make 2 recipes from the 'Dessert' section but I ended up doing 3 ... what can I say ... they all sounded so good!!

Selection #1 was Aunt Marc's Pistacio Tube Pan Cake

Selection #2 is Aunt Elizabeth's Pineapple Dump Cake

And, last by not least, Aunt Marie's Lemon Cake Supreme

The surprise is hidden INSIDE on this one!!  They all smell so YUMMY!!!

I pointed out in the above photo 'My Mom' ... she is presently 83 years old and doing GREAT!  She still works 2 part time accounting jobs and sings with her friend Pam (who plays keyboard) at several nursing homes around the area as well as Treasurer of the church and sings in the church choir.  This lady lets no moss grow under her feet and is a true inspiration to us all!

Unfortunately, all of her siblings in this photo have passed away now and she misses them all so much!  You can't grow up with EIGHT sisters and THREE brothers without having an extremely close bond!

Well ... baking is done and ready to pack up for the big EAT FEAST (Reunion) tomorrow so maybe I can now take a little time to get creative in my crafting cave.

Hope you're having a FABULOUS weekend!
Be sure to TELL and SHOW those around you how much you love them ...
    they won't be here forever!!!!

    God Bless You All!!
    As always . . .
OH ... and just so you know ... the morning glories are still going strong!  They were so pretty when we pulled out of the garage this morning to go to breakfast that I just had to snap a few photos with my phone.

Do you remember this photo from last month where they started to vine up around my Home Sweet Home plaque?
Here's what they look like today!
Can you find the plaque now??
I know they are taking over but I just don't have the heart to tear them out yet!  Maybe in October ... or November ... for sure before the snow flies!  LOL!  They are just too pretty and make me smile!

While in the process of getting ready for my upcoming Fall Craft Shows, I realized I was in need of more birthday cards for kids!  What better time than now to get some created.

    So what do you say?
Are you ready for WEEK 3 of our hop??

This week we girls are creating our Prima Doll Projects with FALL in mind and what a fun time I had creating this shadowbox using the mixed media doll with a pocket dress.   I've used a Halloween theme but her dress is actually sunflower design paper and we all know how gorgeous those sunflowers are in the fall! And, I took the liberty of hand cutting a Halloween mask for her!  See ... you can do SO MUCH with these fun dolls ... aaahhh takes me back to my youth!!

Instead of actually altering a canvas, I decided to flip it over and use it as a shadowbox.
    Worked GREAT!

My background scene is from an OLD DCWV 12x12 pack as is the paper for around the border.  I dipped into my scrapbooking stickers, etc. for some of my embellishments.  I actually cut the bottom part off my butterfly to create tentacles for her to wear with her winged costume.  All items used will be listed at the end of this post.  Here are a couple of close-ups for you and of course you can click on the image to make it larger (I think).

There are slots on either side (top & bottom) of the canvas to insert stretchers ... but I used them to insert  the end posts of my fencing so it has a bit of a curve in it.  The bottom posts of the center section were cut off.  Looks really cool IRL!

Be sure to hop over to EACH of the girls blogs and leave some love!!
REMEMBER:  By leaving a comment at EACH blog EACH week in August, YOU will qualify for the prizes being offered!
