Warm Wishes

Hello my friends ... I hope you are staying warm!
Brrrr ... it's STILL cold here in NE Ohio, USA and I'm more & more ready for Springtime with every passing day!  LOL!  But I guess that will have to wait for a couple more months!

I am, however, sending you Warm Wishes with this creation I made for the challenge at Joan's Gardens this week.  We were to make a Pink & White creation, using at least one heart and a pretty border.

There's a fun story behind the creation on this card.

The focus image actually is the result of a couple of card making 'bloopers'!  The image is a photograph that my cousin Shirley took at her home last winter and she asked me to create 100 Christmas cards for her this year using this photo for the front cover.  (see original photo below)

During the printing of her Christmas cards, I had a few print a bit off center so I put them aside to reuse the white flip side for other card making uses (recycle).  Which is exactly what I did here.  I used one of these sheets to die cut the 'white' heart circle I needed for the front of my card.  BUT ... when I die cut it and flipped it over I was really impressed with how great the photo side looked and since the 'pink' sky also worked for the challenge requirement ... my entire card focus switched gears and this was the outcome!  Don't you love it when a 'MISTAKE' turns into something beautiful!!!

Other products used on this creation are:
Stamps: Verve 'Winter Mittens'
Paper: SU bridal pink, white
Ink: versafine black, versamark
Accessories: Memory Box 'Frostyville Border' die, Spellbinder 'Classic Hearts' die, Spellbinder 'Heart Circles' die, Sizzix snowflake EF

OH! OH! OH!
And look at what was delivered to my house yesterday!

Hubby & I went to the matinee of Les Miserables yesterday and these were waiting for me when I came home!  YEAH!!!   Oh and BTW ... the movie was AWESOME!!!  Hugh Jackman (what a hunk) & Anne Hathaway were AMAZING!  We had seen the stage play in Pittsburgh several years ago but the movie made the actually STORYLINE easier to follow.  I'm so glad we went trudging through the snow to see it!

Well, I guess you know what I will be doing today!
Time to practice 'blending' and 'coloring' with my new Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers!
Oh Happy Day!!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone and as always . . .

The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge

WOW!  Can you believe Valentine's Day is right around the corner!
Hello my friends and thanks for stopping by today ... you have made my day!!

This time around at the Sisterhood of Crafters, we are looking for creations using at least ONE HEART on it.  Card, 3d projects, scrapbook layouts ... choice is yours ... whatever you wish.
That's right ... the theme is:
I {HEART} VALENTINE'S

This was the perfect time to play again with my new Crafty Secrets/Heartwarming Vintage 'Vintage Valentine Digital Kit'.  So many of these adorable images I remember from the Valentine's Day cards we used to hand out to our classmates when I was in grade school (many, many moons ago, LOL).  Here are a couple of cards I've come up with.  I hope you find inspiration . . .

Isn't she just the cutest!  There are so many wonderful vintage papers & images in this kit!  Since I don't have little kids any longer (all grown up) where I could use this for a party invitation, I decided to use the front on the front of my card and as you can see in the next photo, I used the back for the reverse side of my card front.  Cute huh!  LOL!  Of course I finished the inside (New Years Resolution) simply with a plain white sheet for my message.

This would be cute for a young person's birthday where they will have cupcakes.  And, the Inky Impressions charm was the perfect embellishment.  There is also another heart charm attached to the ribbons on the front of the card.

There are SO MANY options by using this Vintage Valentine Kit I could just make Valentine cards ALL DAY!!!  Here's a peek at what comes in the kit:

Our Vintage Valentines Digital Download Kit is brimming with fun stuff in a mix of retro to Victorian styles with 2 printable sheets of valentines and a sheet of matching backs, 2 sheets of shabby tags, 2 strips of cute tickets, 2 styles of invitations, a A4 and a mini envelope, 2 sheet music cupcake wrappers and decorative hearts to embellish with. There are 3 frames and a beautiful big corner heart design you can use on a card or layout.

I thought this couple was just so darn cute I decided they would be the focus of my 2nd card creation.  The background paper is also from this kit and I've used it for the front AND the inside of my card.   This design is probably about as Clean & Simple as my cards get (like all those layers ya know, lol).  The heart corners are die cut from red cardstock using the Cheery Lynn Designs B165 Lace Corner Deco E (set of 3).  The paper doily is from JoAnn Fabrics (Wilton cake section) and the pink satin ribbon is Offray also from JoAnn Fabrics.  I had a scrap of the music paper left from my first creation so of course I had to use it!

Here's a peek at the inside ...

Here are a few other challenges:
City Crafter Challenge - Forever Mine (use hearts)
Created with Love - Anything Goes
Victorine Stamps - Valentine Red, Pink & White

Crafty Secrets Valentine

Happy Monday my friends!
This weekend I had a lot of fun playing with the Vintage Valentine Digital Kit from Crafty Secrets. (I have 3 projects to share with you.  Grab a comfy seat and a beverage ... I'll be a quick as I can!

The papers and images are beautiful and the images reminded me so much of the Valentine's we used to hand out as kids on Valentine's Day in grade school.  Check it out ... you'll know what I mean!
(That is if you were alive in the 1950's & 60's, LOL!)

Isn't this paper gorgeous?  And the wonderful thing is that these pieces are all DIGITAL.  That means you can print it for the proper size on a small card, a large card, a 3d project ... what ever your project requires.

I love doing fancy fold cards and I saw this one done by Joanne over on the Cheery Lynn Designs Blog.  I wanted to be able to use  a lot of the beautiful papers/images so this size worked perfectly.   The only items on this card that are NOT Crafty secrets are the Glittery Heart (RAK), pink brad, pink ribbon and the mulberry flower came from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Here's a little closer view of the inside of my card and the rose.  SU Crystal Effects was used on the rose for dimension.  Of course a bit of fussy cutting was required after printing too!

Here's a second creation made using the same kit.

The background paper, sentiment and corner treatment were all done on the computer in Word using this fabulous Vintage Valentine Digital Kit.   I've added SU Crystal Effect to the corner treatment for added dimension and a little ribbon treatment.  Very EASY PEASY!

Here's a peek at the inside of my card.
(Trying to stay true to my New Years Resolution to finish the inside of my cards!)

The last creation I have to share with you today is a Valentine Goodie Canister made from an empty Crystal Lite container.  Perfect for holding Hershey Kisses (or your favorite candy) to give hubby for Valentine's Day.

A touch of 1/4" red satin ribbon & a sparkly heart were the perfect embellishment to showcase this ADORABLE Valentine.  My musical background paper was also printed from this kit.  This entire project took me about 15 minutes ... including printing!  So Easy and So Adorable!

Sassy Studio Designs Challenges

Hello my friends and Happy Sunday Afternoon!

I was thrilled to be last week's winner for the PCP (Papercraft Planet) Sassy Studio Design challenge and decided to 'take the time' out of my busy weekend to play along again this week.  I have combined both of their challenges.  The one at PCP is "What's Your Style" and the Dare to be Sassy Challenge at the Sassy Studio Design Blog is the Three "R's" ... ribbon, roses & rhinestones.

My favorite style is 'vintage' and one of the techniques I enjoy (but don't do often enough) is paper piecing.  I have combined both for this creation.  This adorable Sassy Studio image is called "Cheerful Chelsea".
Here are the products I used for my card:
Papers:  white cs, light & hot pink cs, black cs and FabScraps 8x8 'High Tea' design paper
Accessories:  Prismacolor markers, SU Watercolor Pencils/blender pen, Wild Orchid Crafts Roses, Recollections adhesive rhinestones, Offray corrugated ribbon, Cheery Lynn Designs B117S Fanciful Flourish Small, Marianne LR0235 die, gold pilot marker

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Wild Orchid Challenge #67 - Coming Up Roses
Dream Valley Challenges - Girls, Girls, Girls
The Squirrel and The Fox - Anything Goes
All Sorts Challenge - Flower Power

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you're having a wonderful, relaxing Sunday afternoon.  Almost time for the football games so I must get moving!

Fooling with Mother Nature!

Good Morning All and Happy Saturday!

Prior to Christmas here in N.E. Ohio, USA we had some very warm temperatures and again last week the thermometer rose.  Well that has certainly confused my Spring Bulbs!  I took this photo outside my front door JUST THIS MORNING!

OH DEAR!  And, it's supposed to be SINGLE DIGITS next week!  My poor daffodils don't know what to do!  This one actually has a flower bud ... eeks!  Hopefully they will go 'back to sleep' ... Winter hasn't really even hit yet!

On a crafting note, I have a card to share with you that I created for the current Joan's Gardens Challenge which is to create a card that:
  • opens from the bottom (Tent style card)
  • use purple, aqua, and light green for the colors
  • use something from nature for the theme

I have used design paper from the K&CO 'Botanical' 12x12 paper pack for my background and butterflies.  The sentiment is a JustRite stamp set called 'Large Fanci Sentiments' #CR-03815.  My flowers & leaves are from Prima and the satin ribbon is Offray.

Side View
It's been crazy busy here in my crafting cave this week but more so on the computer vs at my worktable.  Hopefully today I will get more crafting done and will be sure to share it with all you wonderful folks!

With that being said, I will bid you ado and get busy!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a WONDERFUL weekend!

QKR Stampede Challenge

Hello Everyone!
Yep, another week has come to an end and that means it's time for me to put my QKR Stampede Guest Designer Hat on and share with you the card I made with another one of their cute images!

Today's challenge is COLD & FROSTY
and I chose their "Snowy Barn (digi#13810)" for my creation.

This is such a cute image and reminds me of my growing up years when we had to go out to the barn and feel the cows/horses in the winter time!  And trudging through the all that snow to just get to the barn!  LOL!  Ahhh the good 'ole days!  (kidding!  that was work!)

I've used scraps of various design paper for the background, Martha Stewart icicle border punch, Prismacolor markers for coloring the image and Chalk-AH-Lot Jules Blue chalk for the sky.  A touch of sparkle on the roof & ground snow was added with a 2-way glue stick & Deco Art Glamour Dust.

Here's a close up ...

I would like to enter this creation into the following challenges:
Cards Galore - Anything Goes
