FALL Challenges . . .

are back at Joan's Gardens.  And what a fun, creative challenge & free gifts she & Selma have offered today!  You will have until next Thursday to participate in this one!  Be sure to pop over and check it out!!

Our Toledo friends are coming to visit this weekend and it's their 39th Anniversary on Friday ... so I wanted to make them a special card and this challenge was just the ticket!!!  What do you think?

This card is 6 x 5 1/2" in size and that left me plenty of work space to do everything I wanted to do.  The challenge requires you to use *TWO different embossing folders ... *TWO different die cuts ... * ONE sentiment and * Glitter or Pearls.

Recipe:
Paper - White coated cardstock, black card stock and old olive card stock
Ink - Versafine Black, Tim Holtz Broken China Distress
Accessories - Detail Clear Embossing Powder, Spellbinder Large Labels die for sentiment, Cheery Lynn Designs B117 - Fanciful Flourish (just a section of it), Cheery Lynn Designs DL 112 Exotic Butterfly Small (1" x 1 1/2") and DL113 Exotic Butterfly Small, Cuttlebug  5x7 Swirl EF and Floral Border EF, Kaiser light blue pearls, Scor-Pal, Sponge dauber

I love the embossing and scored backgrounds ... but never think to use them ... always go for the designer paper first!  This challenge inspired me to be more creative without using designer paper ... great fun!

Can you see in the close up that I have reversed the embossing side from one folder to the other?  The border is a positive embossing and the main panel is a negative embossing.  I thought this gave the card a more unique look, along with scoring between the two patterns.  The tiny light blue pearls were just perfect for the flower centers and helped coordinate with the light blue edges on the butterflies.

Maybe I should have added a touch of glitter to the butterflies!  Hmmmm ... might have to do a little tweeking.  Either way, I think the card is lovely and I know my friends will appreciate my efforts!

Challenges:
DYSU Challenge - Texture
The Rubber Cafe - No Designer Paper
Stampin' B's Challenge - Anniversary card
Fresh Brewed Blog - Something New (Cheery Lynn Designs Butterfly Dies)
I Brake for Challenges - Backgrounds
Little Red Wagon - Diecuts
The Paper Shelter #30 - Embossing

Have a wonderful day and be sure to pop over to Joan's Gardens to check out this latest challenge and see all the new products she has in the shoppe!!  It is JAM PACKED ... do check it out!!  I know I have my order almost ready to send!  Don't you just love getting 'goodies' in the mail ... I do ... I'm like a little kid on Christmas morning!  LOL!!

Okay ... back to work.  Hubby's on vacation for THREE WEEKS and this week we are trying to complete some projects that have been on the TO DO LIST ... we're making good progress too!  It's work but it's rewarding when completed!  Have a wonderful day no matter what you are doing!!

Hugs,
